Within this role you will gain skills and qualifications pivotal to becoming a chef. Working in a fast paced environment you will gain hands on experience in the day to day duties involved in working in professional and busy kitchen. This is a fantastic opportunity if you are passionate about pursuing a career as chef and have a genuine interest in the hospitality sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen

• Wear the appropriate clothing for their role and maintain a high standard of personal grooming

• Modern cooking techniques

• Roasting and braising techniques

• Knife skills

• Plating and presentation skills

• Preparing stocks, soups and sauces

• Dealing with deliveries, stock control & ordering

• Assisting on prep days and preparing ingredients for senior staff

• Cleaning

• Baking and producing homemade desserts

• Preparing meat, fish and poultry

• Ensure all food hygiene standards are adhered to

• Take responsibility for own station

 
Further information: The post holder will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and team working skills. Demonstrate a good level of spoken and written literacy.

Additional information: The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 18 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

* Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation *

This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employer's address. Depending on your training you will only need to attend college in Nottingham for initial assessments, enrolment and a few other rare occasions
